Info:
The National Museum was originally intended to be a public exhibit for natural science and historical collections in the beginning of the 18th century. However, that didn't last long as it became the place for Czech nationalism some 20 years later.
In the middle of the 20th century, the Czech government took over the National Museum and divided it into sections as to better the collection as well as specialize it in every way. The divisions are the Museum of Natural Science, the Historical Museum, the Naprstek Museum of Asia, African, and American Cultures, the National Museum Library and the Central Office of Museology. In 1976 a sixth division was added, the Museum of Czech Music.
