Lesser town began in 1257. The location is right under the Prague Castle. During the lapsed time it hasn't changed much other than a few buildings here and there have been constructed. The baroque palaces and old houses is what makes this part a must-see.
The center of the Lesser town is Malostranske square. Located here is the St. Nicholas Cathedral, Town Hall, Sternberg Palace, and the Smiřický Palace. Now located in the Malostranske square is a number of official businesses as well as cafes and the easiest place to get on or off the tram for the Charles Bridge as well as other parts of the city.
