Originally the John Lennon wall was a normal historic wall located in the Lesser town in Prague. But since the death of John Lennon it has been filled with graffiti containing lyrics from Beatles songs as well as pictures descripting love and peace.
In In 1988 the wall was used during a clash between local teenagers and the police on and around the Charles Bridge. The police had painted over all of the graffiti on the Lennon wall because it contained grievances from the teenagers about recent events. By the next morning the wall was covered in signs of peace and flowers as well as the portrait of John Lennon. Over the last few decades it has been used for teenagers to express themselves after the singer died with random thoughts and expressions. Today it is still covered with lyrics from his songs and random graffiti from visitors and locals in Prague.
