The Old Town dates back to around the 9th century. In the those days it was as much as a marketplace as it was for living. Records that date back to 1100, tell us that on every Saturday the Old Town was filled with merchants. When King Vaclav I gave the merchants the privileges of residents the city of Prague was found.
