Like many churches within Prague this church was built on the site of an earlier church. However, this church is the only church that is used as a physical landmark of the
Old Town Square. Also another difference is that this church was in the early 17th century the main Hussite church of Prague. This church today, is known for its pipe organ that occasionally plays concerts within the church.
This Gothic church had finished its construction in the mid 14th century, replacing the earlier Romanesque church. The steeples reach 80 meters into the sky. As you walk into the church you will see beautiful scenes of Christ's passion. Located within the church is the tomb of a Danish astronomer.
