Only few steps from Anděl in the direction to Košíře there is the villa Bertramka,
in which is located the Museum of W.A.Mozart.
This building was
created at the end of the 17 century and got the name after the owner Jan
František Bertram of Bertram. In 1784 got the Bertramka the Duškovi family
-pianist, musical teacher and composer František Xaver Dušek and famous
opera singer Josefína Dušková. During their honeymoon they met the family
of t he musician Leopold Mozart (father of W. A. Mozart). Mozart spent some
time at Bertramka and also he composed there part of the opera Don Giovanni,
that was firstly presented on 29l h October 1787 in Nostic Theatre (at
present Stavovské Theatre).
In the half of the twenties the Bertramka come
under the direction of the National Museum and there was set the the
Monument of the Family Dušek and W.A.Mozart with the original
equipment and lot of memorabilia on W. A. Mozart. Part of the Bertramka
complex is the garden with the Salla terrena with the original paintings
from the beginning of the 18th century; further the Mozart bust from
Tomáš Seidan from 1876 and the sandstone fountain with the sculpture
Living Well from Jan Kodet from 1975.
The Bertramka surrounding was changed after the building of the
Strahov and Mrázovka tunnels and the connected communications.
A little bit troublesome effect has the hotel Mowenpick, connected
with the upper lesser part with a cable railway.
