The oldest monastery in the Czech Lands, founded in 973 by the Prince Boleslav II and his sisiter Mlada for Benedictine nuns.
In 1782 dissolved because of the reform of the Emperoro Joseph II, after that the building was used as barracks. Now one of the collections of the National Gallery is shown here. Permanent exhibition of 19th century Czech painting, sculpture and decorative art is designed as an ilustrative display of all the major artistic trends and their practitioners.
