The Nebozízek Garden
with the most famous statue of the poet Karel Hynek Mácha (1810-1836), is situated among the Újezd, Starvation Wall and the Cable Railway. The poet was born in the house U Bílého orla at Újezd, not far from here and the statue with the bunch of lilacs is the symbol of the eternal love and youth. In the middle of the hill near to the cable railway there is placed the statue of the composer Vítězslav Novák (1870-1949), in the lower part there was in 2002 established the Memorial of the Communism Victims. At the northern hill of Petřín, behind the Schonborn Palace there is located the early baroque garden of the Italian type that is from 1924 used by the Embassy of the United States of America.
