The Royal Procession of Charles IV and his company will set off to Karlštejn on Friday 6th June with the copy of the imperial jewels. The celebration is the opening of the touristic season in Central Bohemia.
Just as last year, the procession will go along Neruda Street, across Charles Bridge and to the Old Town Square where it will be greeted by the mayor of Prague, Pavel Bém. The programme that has been prepared for the Old Town square will last until 3 PM. Both Praguers and visitors of the city will see magicians, fakirs and, of course, knights, who will fight to gain the favour of beautiful women.
The procession will then move to Radotín, where the emperor, impersonated again by Vladimír Čech, will listen to cheerful songs sung to him by local children. Another stop of the procession will be in Černošice, and again, there will be knights waiting there for the emperor. The procession will spend the night in Dobřichovice. At 10PM. amateur actors from Řevnice accompanied by Vladimír Čech, Pavel Vítek and Jan Rosák, will perform the musical Noc na Karlštejně (A Night at Karlštejn).
On Saturday the programme will continue on its way to Karlštejn (planned stops in Lety, Řevnice and Hlásná Třebáň). Then the jewels will be deposited in the Castle and such events will take place as magicians with their tricks, fakirs and a knights tournament. At 6 PM. the historical procession will be interrupted by unusual entertainment – the long awaited live broadcast of the opening match of EURO 2008. The evening will culminate with music played by the band Gulo Čar and Miro Žbirka.
Admission to the concerts and the musical Noc na Karlštejně is free.
