Like last year, the Royal procession carrying the coronation jewels is going to head from Prague to Karlštejn castle. The event is held between 6th and 7th June by the association of villages of Karlštej Region and with support of the Czech Tourism government agency.
The procession will compose of the Emperor with his wife Elizabeth of Pomerania with dozens of horse riders and courtiers. A rich programme is prepared at individual stopovers for all participants.
“The idea of the procession builds on a deep historical tradition, which stretches back to the reign of Charles IV. The Emperor kept the Holy Roman Empire coronation jewels in Karlštejn. Every year he would briefly display them to the public in Prague before returning them to the Karlštejn Castle. It was this return journey transferring coronation jewels to the castle that became the theme of the Royal Procession,” said the spokesman of organisers, Jan Palouček.
