The musician and writer Henry Rollins, who is known as a member of Black Flag band and Rollins Band, is coming to Akropolis, Prague in an unusual role. His performance, scheduled for 8th February 2010, will only consist of spoken word.
As the organizer of the “spoken word” movement, Rollins presents himself as a man of sharp language. His “lectures” are a continuation of public readings accompanied by jazz, such as were practised in the 1950’s by Kenneth Patchen, Lawrence Ferlinghetti or Bob Kaufman.
In his spoken word shows, Rollins deals with personal themes, interpersonal relationships, music, drugs and politics. He calls his shows a public therapy and driving away “childhood demons”.
More information about the performance, which will be in English and will not be translated, can be found at www.palacakropolis.cz/program/2010-02-08
