The event, which started as a supporting event for the Czech Republic to join the European Union, has found its firm place in the festival map of Prague.

“As usual, the festival will be held on the islands in the centre of Prague,” said the Director of the festival, Martin Voňka, “We have been intensively negotiating with Prague 1. The construction of stages on Střelecký Island or Kampa depends on when Prague 1 starts the planned revitalization of both places. Even if we had to relocate one stage on the pontoons, we believe that it will all work out well.”

This year for the first time, the City of Prague has financially supported the preparation of the festival, thanks to which the admission to this year’s festival can be free again.

“Even the International Music Council has been involved to help us find the best bands. We are in touch with people from all the countries represented at the festival who know the home scenes of their country very well,“ explains the Chief Dramatic Advisor, David Gaydečka, “There are people who help us map out musical events, e.g. Nicolas Jeanneté, producer who in France co-operates with Yann Tiersen. On the British scene we are helped by Clive Johnson, the original manager of the famous jazz singer Jamie Cullum.”
