This Wednesday will see an opening of the 12th year of the well known documentary movie festival called One World. Organisers have prepared many events for those who are interested to see how human rights issues are rendered by various film-makers.
The 12th year of the international human rights documentary festival will feature more than 100 movies, many foreign guests, mainly directors, screening for schools, online movies and many accompanying events together with the new programme Získej diváky (Gain Audience). As mentioned at the beginning, the main part of the festival takes place in Prague, but March and April will see also regional festivals in 29 towns of the Czech Republic. The selection of movies from the biggest festival of its kind in Europe, One World, will be presented in Brussels as well.
Documentaries from 30 countries
More than 101 documentaries from 30 countries, which were selected from more than 1 600 entries, will be screened at the festival in both thematic and competition categories. The event will be opened by an Iranian documentary called Green Days, which shows one of the worst examples of human rights suppression in recent years.
To Lucerna, but not only there
As in previous years, the Prague festival centre is going to be in Lucerna cinema. Apart form that, festival documentaries will be also screened in Světozor, Theatre Archa, Atlas, French Institute, Municipal Library and Evald. Tickets can be purchased in festival outlets for the same price as last year, which is 70 CZK.One novelty is that you can register online and get involved in the Gain Audience programme as well as get regular festival updates, select your own programme, and debate about movies.
