Large Format Photographs Reveal Europe’s Gems
2010-06-24 08:40:43

Project Wild Wonders of Europe is an international mobile exhibition of large format photographs highlighting the fragility and irreplaceable nature of our planet. Here you will find nature scenery and the uniqueness of Europe’s fauna and flora captured in unique and original large format images.

This special exhibition will be open from 22nd June till 22nd August in Alšovo nábřeží , close to Rudolfinum and the entry is free 24 hours a day!

The project was launched at its world premier on 27th May in Haag with personal attendance of HRH Princess Irene of the Netherlands; 4th June is next in the form of an indoor exhibition in Italian Genoa and on 22nd June in Prague. During 2010-2012 it should gradually travel through Europe, North America and China.

There will be 100 large format photographs exhibited of nature from the ateliers of 69 of Europe’s Top Nature Photographers. The selection was made from a unique collection of close to 200 000 photographs taken during the last approximately 15 months in all 48 countries of Europe especially for the purpose of this project. Each state is represented by at least one photograph and much more can be found on www.wild-wonders.com. This is so far the biggest attempt to save nature using the power of photographs.

The primary mission of the international project is a celebration of Europe’s natural wealth which is still around us and more often than not is taken for granted. It uncovers the wilder aspects of nature and provides glimpses of places about which the majority of people don’t even know about. It should inspire visitors to take better care of our common heritage and to keep its existence of high value.

The exhibition is accompanied by a separate exposition of National Park Šumava  – “Šumavská divočina ”, which will commence its anual program presenting many natural wonders of Czech Republic.

For visitors to this exhibition there will also be an additional program prepared such as public projections at the place of the exhibition, you can also purchase publication Wild Wonders of Europe published for this occasion in 10 languages. More information about this unique publication can be found on http://www.wild-wonders.com/the book.asp.
