An exhibition by the citizens’ association MC Outdoors Riders introduces a travel project which strives to integrate handicapped people into the world of motorbike travel. It can be seen from 30th June at the City Hall.
During her travels over the Himalayas, Jana Fesslová, a paralympic sportswoman from South Bohemia, experienced all the beauties and pitfalls of adventurers who, just like her, have conquered the highest negotiable mountain saddle in the world – the 5602 m high Khardung La pass, travelling 2300km through the regions of Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Kashmir.
Pavel Bém, Mayor of Prague, speaking of the exhibition BLUE LAND 2009, of which he is the patron, said:
“The Himalayas have again been conquered. This time, however, that Himalayan victory is much more admirable than any before. The conqueror of the “Snow Kingdom” is a woman who, with fascinating determination and pugnacity, has not only overcome the blows that life has dealt her, but also achieved the aims that she set for herself. Iwish you all not only a wonderful experience viewing photos of the fascinating Himalayas, but especially enlightenment from the lesson that this exhibition teaches us.”
The exhibition is complimented by pictures from the Blue Land citizens’ association, from which the whole expedition took its name. The exhibition can be seen from 30th June to 30th August on the premises of City Hall, Jungmanova 29, Prague 1. The ceremonial opening of the exhibition, in the presence of Jana Fesslová, took place on 30th June at 12 noon.
MC Outdoors Riders
The side-car travel projects for handicapped people, experiential social rehabilitation and rides for children and pensioners make up the main scope of the association’s activities. The Himalayan expedition was part of a 5-year project, through which the association aims to draw attention to the social need for activities of this nature (5 years – 5 continents – 5 expeditions). In 2015 the association wants to make a round-the-world side-car expedition for wheelchair users. In 2011 it is preparing to open a travellers’ motor museum and club not only for handicapped people in Prague.
