Following the fantastic run-away success of Volkswagen Marathon Prague and Hervis ½ Marathon Prague during which several records were broken not least of which was the unexpectedly massive turn up of runners, the September race is under starters orders and ought to be the front runner of this season.
Organisers of the Prague International Marathon are hoping that the race will manage to attract the challenge of some of the top runners from the European elite to run in the two competitions. In the 5 km Adidas run for women 900 runners have already signed up, in the 10 km Metro run for men,1200 runners are signed up to sweat it out, which in comparison with the number of runners entered at the same time last year means a 100% increase.
Many of them will run to support their own choice of charity, but every runner in 3.8 km Tesco Run for Life will help to raise money for Children Oncology Trust Krtek, this trust will get all money raised from the starting fee.
All fans and out of condition wannabe champions can try out the track and can join the runners by buying blue shoelaces available for only 50 CZK in Tesco hypermarkets and shopping malls across the Czech Republic, and even in this case all money raised from the sale will be donated to charity. So far 9 000 shoelaces have been sold.
Tesco 3.8 km Run for Life will start at Old Town Square at 6 pm and it is a final race in the series of races which took place in several cities in Czech Republic during May and June. An integral part of the evening are also the Adidas 5 km race for women and the 10 km Metro run for men. As always there will be a plentiful supporting program including the yearly Marathon Music Festival.
