Ladronkafest: Sports, Dancing, Painting, Music and Adrenaline
2010-08-31 08:53:39

On 11th September 2010 from 11 a.m. Ladronka Park welcomes everybody who enjoys active life styles. There will be dozens of leisure time activities available to try out free of charge.

Over the course of nine years Ladronkafest has developed into the largest display of all possible activities people can do in their free time. The sheer variety of this year’s festival offer proves beyond doubt that wasting your time by lazing around is a sin. Besides a stage programme there will be 60 places in the park with different activities that you can sample. Are you interested in sport, dancing, painting, art or adrenaline? In Ladronka, everybody will be able to find what is closest to their heart and abilities. The organiser, City district Prague 6, presents a rich menu of activities and possibilities for girls, boys and their parents.

Maybe, right there and then you will discover that you want to master some of the sports disciplines. The program on offer will be very rich, from skateboarding, BMX, U ramp jumping or a giant trampoline, kite boarding, capoeira, judo, rugby, American football, fencing, lacrosse, to indo board and footbag. All sports will be presented by the best athletes in the Czech Republic. You can dance in the rhythms of classical dance, hip hop or break dance. Because leisure time is not just all about physical activities, you can also try a number of other hands on workshops: table games and brain-teasers, drumming, artistic workshops, playing musical instruments, theatre, street art and juggling.

The event gives space to people with disabilities also. On the other hand, non-disabled people can put themselves in the shoes of handicapped people and try for example wheelchair floorball, ride a hand-bike (a bicycle driven by hand power), take an opportunity to learn about a hand-powered motorcycle or a specially adapted water ski. How about trying an obstacle course in a wheelchair, moving in a pitch-dark room, shooting from a bow for blind people or climbing trees in a wheelchair?

Ladronkafest is mainly about fun. Do you know, for example how Wii works? Come and try it! You can look forward to having fun with your friends at a tennis court, a boxing ring, or a golf course. All that in an area of 18 m2 in front of a TV screen with a remote control in your hand. Ladronka will show you that pedal cars are not only for children. During a game called Kubb you may find out there is a part Viking in you. Trying new in-line skating tracks has never been easier – skates are available to rent on the spot If that’s not enough for you, head to more remote places, for example to distant galaxies of the film saga Star Wars, talk to Anakin Skywalker or handle the laser sword of the Jedi order. In any case, the fans of the imperial Star Wars costume group will show you all the many forms of spending leisure time. Do you want to take a photo and forgot your camera? No problem! You can get a picture of you from the organisers even with a dedication.
