Anyone for Ice Skating?

You can skate on ice rinks Na Františku, Braník, Gutovka or one of the winter stadiums. The majority of Prague ice rinks also hire out and service skates. Entry fees to the public ice rinks are no more than 50 CZK and in Ovocný trh you can skate for free.

Ovocný trh

In Prague city centre on Ovocný trh (Fruit market) an ice rink has once again sprung up for the public which each year attracts hundreds of skaters. The ice rink is open every day from 10 am to 10 pm. Skating on Ovocný trh will go on till 31st January and in addition to this the organisers have prepared for every weekend some kind of event such as concerts, theatre or ice show. All this is free. You can hire skates in the temporary hire stall; the proceeds will go to charity.

Ice ring Na Františku

A short hop skip and jump from the hospital is a large sports arena, in it the football field changes into public ice rink during winter. This season the ice ring is open to the public until the end of March. It is open daily from 8 am to 5.30 pm and from Friday to Sunday even later. During evening hours the ice rink is filled with hockey enthusiasts who book it out. A detailed time schedule can be found here. At the premises is also skate hire and service.

Ice rink Gutovka

The covered ice rink in the sports arena Gutovka is used during the year by in-line skaters, in winter it is used by school children who learn to ice skate here and during unbooked time it is open to public. Opening hours are normally from 10 am to 5.30 pm for more accurate opening times for the public always look at updated timetable. You can hire skates at the premises. Ice rink Braník

In the courtyard of Vršovice water station in Braník a public play field 5 x 10 m was created. It is made from a special material on which skates slide as though on real ice. Entry to this new ice ring is 50 CZK per day. It was built in association with Kroužky na Vltavě and it is open to the public every day from 9 am to 9 pm. Two four hour segments a week on Wednesday and Sunday are reserved for the smallest skaters. Refreshment stalls are right next to the ice rinks.

Skating in winter stadiums

Stadium HC Hvězda has public skating every weekend afternoon for a flat fee 70 CZK. Every weekend from 2 pm to 4 pm there is also public skating in the stadium Nikolajka with entry fee 40 CZK. Stadium Ice Arena Letňany is open to the public every Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Adults pay 80 CZK and children 40 CZK. You can skate in the winter stadium HASA where they have a couple of hours a week open for the public. For more information go to www.krasobrusleniusk.cz.
