Pocket Interpreter (or Pi) is an instant language assistance
service specifically designed & tailored to the needs of expatriate residents,
tourists and visiting business people in the Czech Republic.
Comprised of the pool of interpreters with more than sixteen languages between them,
Pi can help you communicate and eliminate various incomprehension
problems that one can meet when in a foreign country. Even if you are not a native
English speaker, we will endeavor to match you to an interpreter who shares your
mother tongue. As well as Czech, our language base includes German, Spanish,
Italian, and Slovak, Russian, Ukrainian, Belorussian, Croatian, Arabic, and
Chinese.
Examples of situations when you would benefit from Pocket Interpreter are:
- at a bus or train station
- at the bank
- post office
- shopping
- hairdressers
- state school or nursery
- dealing with Czech authorities
- dealing with builders, cleaners & most Czech tradespeople
- if you find yourself involved in an accident
- at a hospital or police station where there are no English speaking
staff
- if you live or visit outside of Prague, Brno, Ostrava, or
Olomouc

The Pocket Interpreter service is divided into two distinct
categories.
The IMPULSE range is aimed at short to medium stay clients who
are visiting the Czech Republic for business or leisure. The product range is
comprised of:
- 7-day cover
- 14-Day cover
- 21-Day cover
- 31-Day cover
All IMPULSE products cover the period between 8am and 9pm.
The RESIDENT range is aimed at the long-term stay expatriate
residents who have, for now, made the Czech Republic their home, but who have yet to
get to grips with the Czech language. This range of services has a minimum
subscription period of 3 months, provides cover 7 days a week and is comprised
of:
- DAYTIME & EVENING - 8am to 9pm
- DAYTIME - 8am to 6pm
- EVENING - 6pm to 9pm
If you require an in-person interpreter, then one can be provided at a discounted
rate if you are subscribed to a RESIDENT product.

If you are subscribed to DAYTIME & EVENING or DAYTIME only, and you wish to hire
in-person interpreter services, then you will be charged a special discounted rate
of 500Kc/hour. (The normal rate is 750Kc/hour).
