The game park was established
in 1535 by the king Ferdinand I at the place of the
former forest in Liboc. In June 1555 his son Archduke Ferdinand
of Tyrol built here a Renaissance summer palace
called Star Summer Palace. The four stored building was
named the Star due to its hexagram platform and belongs to
the most interesting buildings of the renaissance architecture in our country.
At present there is located the Memorial
of the National Literature removed here from Strahov and
part of the exposition is devoted to the former exhibitions of
Alois Jirásek and Mikoláš Aleš. In the ground floor of this reconstructed
building there is placed the permanent exhibition
about the past and present of palace Hvězda and the attention is
encouraged with the great model of the fight at White Mountain
placed in the basement. At the main gate to the game park (next to
the hotel Obora in Liboc Street) there is situated the statue
of Jan Roháč z Dubé from A. Sopr, that was earlier placed in front
of the Old Town Hall and in front of the Summer Palace Hvězda
there is placed the statue of the Hussite woman from J. Jiříkovský.
