Info:
The Prague Jewish Museum was founded in 1906 as
the t i d of he Jewish Museums in the middle Europe (Vienna
1895, Frankfurt 1897).
The immediate impulse for its founding
was the asanation of the Prague Jewish town that started in
1895. In 1906 there was important to save the rich inventory from
the Cikánova and Velkodvorská synagogues intended for the demolition
at that time.
The individuality of the Prague Jewish museum
is in the fact, that from its founding it was aimed at the collection of
the relics from Prague and Czech countries. These collections are now
creating the ground for the creating representative collections and are
also the exhibit of the historic, demographic and economic development
of the different Jewish communities.
